Football Manager 2009: The New Features
| Football Manager 2009: The New Features |
As you know in every release of Football Manager 2009 there is always some new features. Last year it was the ‘budget adjustment’ features and also being able to visit matches and being ’spotted’ in the crowd at the end of the game. But what are the main features on Sports Interactive’s 2009 release of Football Manager.
The 3D match engine is the most obvious inclusions. It allows you not just being able to see the simple 2D engine with dots as players which has often been criticised in the past. It allows you to see the players as you would on Fifa 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer although the players are less detailed as you well could imagine. This is a massive inclusion for Si which will win more sales. Now for example I know at least 5 people who hate the game because of the boring, aging 2D match engine. This year they have all bought the game and enjoyed the inclusion of 3D. In all honesty this feature had been needed for a while.
The second main inclusion of this years game is the press conferences. Journalists from main papers and websites such as Four-Four-Two and BBC Sport pitch you questions such as ‘What should we expect from you in the transfer market’ and ‘Who do you think is your strongest player’ For every question you get a list of possible answers you could choose and an additional comments box for you to say whatever you please. Swearing at the reporters is most enjoyable by the way. This feature makes the game more realistic and also adds some extra fun to the game.
The third and slightly less important feature is the Assistant Manager Feedback. You recieve information from your assistant manager about how your team is playing and their morale and fitness, before and after each game. Also in addition to that when you look at your team report the assitant manager may offer you some potential signings he thinks will fit into the team. This could be helpful if you are stuck on ideas of who to sign.
These are the main features in a brief breakdown. The new features are what make the game every year, but did Sports Interactive past the test this year?
