FM Live a game of patience ?
FMLive….Patience is a virtue?
Introduction:
Most definitely. I am writing this to help people who are planning on purchasing Football Manager Live, or becoming a BETA tester.
Football Manager Live is Sports Interactive’s new venture, and is a Massive Multiplayer Online game. The game is split up into gameworlds, featuring hundreds of managers. You play against real people, and their own, hand-built team. You bid for players against real people too. It is a game which is taking up the majority of my current free time, and I really am – an addict!
Patience?
However, FMLive is a game which generally needs a large amount of patience for the player, in my opinion. Hopefully, I can explain why.
There are two major reasons really. The first one, is the awful, terrible issue of lag, performance and server problems. FMLive is currently going through a lot of work, and so forth, the servers seem to often be down. However, it never seems to improve. In fact, it seems to be getting worse.
Especially the lag in my gameworld. Every match I play, I can’t possibly use the ‘Make Comment’ feature at the end of the match where you can release a statement for the subsequent news item or quote. I just can’t, because either it is me, or the whole game world, but the game just freezes for about 20 minutes, when I click ‘Confirm’. So, i just have to Leave the match at the end. The lag during matches, is also bad, and the servers seem to be down more than they are up!
So, definitely patience is key if you want to brave the FML World!
But also, your actual team, and game play is difficult to begin with. How do you think the best of the best in FML have become that good? It’s quite simple really, they have stuck it out, played for weeks and weeks, slowly but surely knitting a perfect squad together.
I was (still am) an utter shambles in FM. despite spending quite a bit of money, I still managed to lose my first 9, yes 9 (I think) games. But this is exactly what this article is about. You NEED to have a patience in my view, to finally suceed. Things are starting to pull together for the cavaliers, but it has took ages.
Conclusion:
I think it is obvious to anyone that has ever played this early version of the game, that patience is required, to brave building your team, and the lag. The reason I’m writing this now, is because my FML game has froze, which says a lot really.
So, if your thinking of purchasing FML over FM09, then may I warn you, you need to be a patient, long winded person!
