I know I've been a bit useless recently in a couple instances with creating a 'your game' topic and leaving it after the first post, but hopefully as this is an international one, i'll be able to sustain it.
---
I've chosen to take Northen Ireland forward for no particular reason, but hopefully this will be my last good game of fm2008 and I hope to share it with you guys! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Check_it.gif) I'll be starting in July 07. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Update to come later tonight when I play a couple Euro qualifier games... I promise!

It appears not...

First Game in Charge -

European Qualifier:

Northern Ireland 0 - 1 Liechenstein
(Mario Frick - 2)

A very bad first game for me. We hardly challenged their keeper, and it was their 40 yard first minute free kick that won it for them.

Will hopefully play a couple more games tomorrow!

Second Game in Charge:

European Qualifier:

Latvia 2 - 3 Nort
hern Ireland
-
Maris Verpakovskis (21,51)
- Kyle Lafferty (23,59), Martin Paterson (90) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif)

A good second game. My defence is still a bit weak, with some poor errors between the CB pairing of Jonny Evans and (captain) Stephen Craigan. Martin proved to be a super sub though, along with a great performance from Lafferty. Brunt and Gillespie were again quiet on the wings, and Healy was quiet upfront. Steven Davis and Dean Shiels we're very good and firm in the centre of midfield, while Mcartney and Mcauley were sound and steady at LB and RB respectively. Onwards and upwards! Good old Martin Paterson got you a win. He was a legend at Scunny until he decided to leave.

Third Game in Charge:

European Qualifier:

Iceland 1 - 3 Northern Ireland
(Heidar Helguson - 23)
(Kyle Lafferty - 35,66, David Healy - 90)

I'm on a roll now. Scoring goals for fun now it seems and Lafferty has been sharp up top. My centre mids this game performed great, I replaced Clinigan with Shields to get some more balence in the midfield, and dropped Craigan for Hughes at centre back.

If I win all three remaining games of my group (Sweeden away, Denmark home and Spain away then I am through!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Easier said than done though...

Whats your group Cameron?

Greece, Moldova, San Marino, Northern Ireland, Albania, France.

I'll be aiming for 2nd/3rd. I should be able to overcome Albania, Greece will be my biggest rivals and France I guess will win the group. Was wondering, are there any play offs for if you finished 2nd in your group?

I think there is. If you finish 2nd you will play against another second placed team. But if you want to be sure just click on group table and there should be a button on the bottom right that says rules that should explain it all.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention; I think that all the second placed teams are divided in to a league table and the two teams with most points will directly qualify for the World Cup while the rest has to play play-offs against each other.

I'm at half way point in my world cup qualifiers, so I ought to update you lot:

World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland 2 - 0 San Marino (Lafferty, Steven Davis)

World Cup Qualifier
Albania 1 - 1 Northern Ireland (Steven Davis)

World Cup Qualifier
Moldova 0 - 0 Northern Ireland

World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland 0 - 1 Greece

World Cup Qualifier
France 2 - 2 Northern Ireland (Ivan Sproule, Dean Shiels)

I'm a little dissapointed to be honest, especially with the results against Moldova and Greece. We did great away to France though, and we'll need to win all 5 games really to be at least second in the group.

Current Group Table:
1. France - 13 points
2. Greece - 12 points
3. Northern Ireland - 6 points
4. Albania - 5 points
5. Moldova - 3 points
6. San Marino - 1 point

As I said though, I think that we'll need 21 points to finish second...

I finished in third position overall:

World Cup Qualifier
San Marino 0 - 3 Northern Ireland (Clingan, Lafferty, Brunt)

World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland 2 - 0 Albania (Lafferty, Shiels)

World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland 2 - 0 Moldova (Aaron Hughes, Lafferty)

World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland 1 - 0 France (Shiels)

World Cup Qualifier
Greece 3 - 2 Northern Ireland (Shiels, Lafferty)

The Final Group Table:
1. France - 25 Points
2. Greece - 24 Points
3. Northern Ireland - 18 Points
4. Albania - 11 Points
5. Moldova - 6 Points
6. San Marino - 1 Point

--
Overall i'm quite pleased. The real results that let us down were the away draws to Albania and Macedonia and the home defeat to Greece. Anyway, the future does look bright and i'll hope to take Northern Ireland to the Euro qualifiers, and hopefully do as well.

Special Mentions to:
Roy Carroll - Has been a fantastic goalkeeper for me.
Hughes,Baird,Evans,Mcartney - Have been great in defence.
Davis,Sproule,Clingan,Brunt - Have all been quite good in midfield
Shiels and Lafferty - Excellent upfront.

I doubt this side will be changed much for the next Euro qualifiers, and it's good to know I have some good younger players such as Lafferty, Shiels, Evans, Davis, Brunt and Clingan who'll be in the squad for the long term.

Awards: MOTM September 2008. MOTM October 2008.
You did fantastically well to finish 3rd in that group. Well done for the results against France, shame that you weren't able to do the same thing with Greece.

Good luck for the Euro qualifiers.
