The long awaited mainsite has arrived, thanks to the hard work of ALL the staff members who have written something and a special thanks to Pedro Mendes (Rab) for designing and coding it.
I know it may not be the best design in the world, but take in mind we are not rich people who can afford designers or coders. We are fortunate Rab has given us a hand, and he's given us so much help we all need to thank his efforts on the skin AND mainsite. The mainsite can be accessed here http://fmdiscussion.com you can comment on things, register and etc. We will be updating it with FM09 news, resources which includes graphics, guides and even challenge / database / competition. So let's thank everyone who has helped make this happen. |

That was an ordeal! Months and months, and it's finally here. Plus all the pages with links under the banner you see are my last minute work!
All of the staff, especially Rab have put in tremendous work here. |

When 09 is released, we will most probably open a sub-forum for all the guides/gfx that people wish for us to upload to the site.
Or, we may have a system so that when ever you put content on the forums, just put [Mainsite] in the topic description. |

I would be intrested in writing arcticles on my thoughts on football, or reports on matches if its allowed and can increase the content of the site.

I'm glad to see you guys finally getting a mainsite, but it's really only effective if enough effort is put in to regularly update it and fill pages of content. I hope you're able to do this since almost every other forum/site fails in this regard.
A quick suggestion... enable dynamic page/post naming in WordPress or get a SEO plugin. It will make things much easier if an article address is "/fm09-tactics-primer" and not "/?p=327" as well as allow Google to find it better. Also, if you're going to allow comments (which I wouldn't suggest) you're definitely going to need a spam prevention plug-in that will display a captcha or better before submitting. The bots have gotten really good with WP2.5+ so without it you can be looking at a ton of viagra ads/porn links... even if you comment moderate, it's a pain in the ass. From an organizational standpoint, I'd categorize articles better and include them prominently in the navigation bar. Remember, people are going to be quickly looking for information they want, so the easier they can find it, the better. Most of the current navbar is useless to new viewers, so I'd either move some to a sidebar menu or compress them all under one parent menu. Lastly... get rid of the blogroll/meta sections of the sidebar, They're still populated with default WP2.0+ info! (which makes the site look amateurish especially to those who regularly blog and use WordPress) |
