Celtic Football Club Guide

Team History

Celtic Football Club is an Scottish football club, that play their home games at Celtic Park in the east end of Glasgow and has one of the biggest fans bases in the world. Celtic play in the Scottish Premier League and are current champions also defending a 3 in a row win of the SPL. Celtic were created in 1888 and founded by Brother Walfrid, an Irish priest as a means of fund raising for the poor and deprived area in the east end of Glasgow, the major rivals of Celtic are Rangers a team also from Glasgow who’s colors are red, white, blue as Celtic wear green and white, when these two teams meet the match is known as the Old Firm and is known all over the world.

The club is the second most successful in Scotland and can boast about winning 88 trophies, including the Scottish League Championships 35 times which was then named Scottish Premier League in 1998 and Celtic have won that 7 times since then, the club also holds the record number of Scottish Cup wins as they have won the Scottish Cup 34 times and of course the Scottish League Cup 13 times, as well as winning the European Cup in 1967 beating Inter Milan 2-1 to become the first team from Britain to lift the trophy and then became runners up of the trophy 3 years later, Celtic also have a total of 41 minor cup honors.

Team Analysis

Keeper – Boruc is a excellent keeper, world class, still loads of years ahead of him at least 5 years, however if Boruc should be injured, I don’t think Mark Brown has what it takes to step in and become the Goalkeeper between the sticks. As you have 9 million to spend, you should be looking to replace Brown, I normally sign Reading keeper Federici who is still not worthwhile signing but is actually good in the SPL as a back up and is quiet cheep.

Wing backs – Hinkel is a decent Right back to have, I normally keep Hinkel as I think he is a steady enough right back for the SPL. Lee Naylor on the other hand is a player, I don’t have much time for he really annoys me so I end up keeping him for one season and then selling as a few clubs down south are normally interested. Also look to loan out or maybe even play Caddis as back up, Mark Wilson also makes an excellent substitute and can play on both sides.

Defenders – Steven Mcmanus is a leader at the back, solid and stands tall I think he is a good player and Gary Caldwell is equally as good so I don’t see a point of replacing these players however sometimes you find teams the likes of Blackburn making offers I normally accept these offers but its up you, you should be looking to sell Bobo Balde who is taking up £20K a week, I don’t really like Glenn Loovens although I keep him as back up for at least another season and also keep O’Dea.

Wingers – Nakamura is a decent player although he is starting to get on a bit, I normally sell him in the January window for around 2.8M and spend around 1.5M on a younger winger who is equally as good and who can play more versatile. Aiden McGeady is a quality left winger who will run at opponents all day and get balls into the area, normally after the first season a few clubs like Everton and Aston Villa are interested but I will not sell. You really should be looking to sell Nakamura, McCourt and Robson who is quite a decent player but if you can get money then why not.

Midfielders – Scott Brown is a decent player who gets decent ratings and same goes for Paul Hartley both of these players should be side by side in the midfield area and you should also be looking to sell Hartley in January and bring in someone like James McArthur from Hamilton or James McCarthy also from Hamilton as they are both home based players for the Champions League and have bags of potential. Also be looking to loan out Crosas or give him a run in the team.

Strikers – I think its more suitable to use Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink as a target man if you are not then I would sell him because I don’t think he makes the same impact. Scott McDonald is a good finisher if he can get the chances so I also keep him. Giorgios Samaras should be in the reserve team for the first couple of months of the game and Cillian Sheridan is who I have on the bench as a back up striker, Giorgios Samaras should be broken into the first team over the first couple months slowly to get the best from him in the second half of the season and then try loaning out Cillian Sheridan to gain experience also try signing Kadlec at the beginning of the game he wants to be either a key player or first team player but only wants £90 per week then I just loan him to a club for the first couple of seasons although I put the recall option on his loan contract.

Tactics

My preferred tactic when Celtic is the 442 Attacking, as Celtic have enough quality to rip through most of the teams in the Scottish Premier League, however when playing in the Champions League or UEFA Cup, I am slighty more cautious and I normally field a 451 Normal.

———–Boruc————
-Hinkel–Caldwell–Mcmanus–Naylor-
———- ————– ——— —-
-Naka– Brown–Hartley—McGeady
——— —————- ——— —-
——–VOH—-McDonald—- ——-

Brown has more creative freedom than Hartley and attacking mentality
Vennegoor as Target man, counter attack ticked.

Summer Signings

An idea of good summer signings for Celtic Football Club, I am not saying sign all of the players listed just to give you a rough idea. These are positions that I think mostly need strengthened.

Goalkeepers:

Diego Benaglio – Swiss – Wolfburg – Around £1.9M
Morgan De Sanctis – Italy – Galatasaray – normally free in the summer

Left wing back:

Da Costa Goore – Ivory Coast – FC Moskow – around £900k

Right Winger:

Giuliano – Brazil – Parana – 2.8M (future)
Vladimir Yurchenko – Belarus – Saturn – £2.2M

Central Midfielder:

Steven Defour – Belgium – Standard – £2M
James McCarthy – Ireland – Hamilton – £900k
James McCarthur – Scotland – Hamilton – 1.2M

Strikers:

Artem Milevskyi – Ukraine – Dinamo Kiev – 5M
Tomas Necid – Czech – Slavia Prague – 3M
Luis Angel Landin – Mexico – Moreila – 1.5M

It is completely up to you whether you want to or can sign these players because Transfer budget on the second season varies once I got 12M to spend and other times Ive had just 2.5M to spend
